It is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jumpfrom 1984 to 1995, The series follows the adventures of the protagonist, Goku, from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven wish orbs known as the Dragon Balls, when all 7 are gathered, those can be used to summon the Eternal Dragon Shenron (Shenlong in japanese) who will grant 1 wish. Along his journey, Goku makes several friends and battles a wide variety of villains, many of whom also seek the Dragon Balls

Info: Goku is now on his quest for his grandfather's Dragon ball. But of course, there's usually some type of evil in this way. This time, we see it in the form of a large military organization known as the Red Ribbon Army, hell bent on gathering the 7 Dragon balls together again. To get his Dragon ball back, Goku has to go through the entire Red Ribbon Army. Atlast Goku meets his new master Korin.
Season 3 (Ep 62-92)
Info: After training in korin tower and destroying the red ribbon army, Goku meets Baba (Master Roshi's sorceress sister) to have her look into her magic ball to locate the last Dragon ball. Baba has Goku fight some ghosts in return for the service. Goku meets with grandpa Gohan there. After some time 22nd martial arts tournaments begin, and Goku meets Tien.
Season 4 (Ep 93-122)
Info: Tien wins in the tournament and shortly krillin is killed by an ancient evil force. His name is Piccolo Daimao, an evil warlord. Piccolo Daimao meets up with our hero, Goku. They engage in battle, and defeats Goku. With Goku out of the way, Piccolo wishes for his youth and power from the Eternal Dragon. Master Roshi ends up being killed by Piccolo, along with Chiatzou. Goku arrives from Karin Tower after drinking sacred water to defeat Piccolo, Before Piccolo dies, he leaves behind an egg to avenge his death.
Season 5 (Ep 123-153)
Info: Goku then seeks out Kami-Sama, the guardian of earth, With the help of his assistant Mr. Popo, Kami revives Shenron so Goku can make his wish to bring his friends back to life. Kami wishes to take Goku can train with him until the next martial arts tournament, where he has to face Piccolo Jr. Goku reunites with his future wife chi-chi. Goku and Piccolo go face eachother in the final round. A long hard battle ensues, and the victor is Goku, Soon after, Goku and Chi-Chi are married, hoping to have a happy joyful life ahead of them...
